Een paar trends die relevant zijn voor onderwijs:
* Amazon Web Services, Azure,and Google Cloud’s low-code and no-code offerings will trickle down to everyday people, allowing them to create their own artificial intelligence applications and deploy them as easily as they could a website <- programmeren zonder code waardoor systemen makkelijk aan te passen zijn (en dus flexibeler inzetbaar voor het onderwijs).
* AI researchers are leaving academia for corporations at an alarming pace. -> hoe behouden we AI onderzoekers binnen universiteiten?
* New measures to regulate the creation and distribution of deepfakes will be introduced throughout 2021 and 2022. <- niet van echt te onderscheiden video's, onderdeel maken van Mediawijsheid.
* Voice assistants can guess what people are typing on nearby devices <- meer mogelijkheden voor inclusief onderwijs.
* Synthetic media will become an integral part of our future XRexperiences. <- synthetische media zijn door AI gemanipuleerde of gecreëerde media (bv deepfake)
* This could be the year that Facebook and Apple launch their smart glasses <- geen smartphone, maar eyewear.
* The cloud is controlled by a hand-ful of companies that have the sole ability to determine pricing, access, and standards. “Cloudneutrality” will be debated this year. <- de macht van de grote techbedrijven zien we ook in het onderwijs. Belangrijk om de publieke (onderwijs)waarden te borgen en afhankelijkheden te beperken.
* There was a dramatic increase in Internet of Things scams and attacks, as hackers took advantage of employees and students working from their own devices and home networks, which are rarely secure. <- nog meer aandacht voor veiligheid, privacy en data-bescherming. Ook steeds vaker aanvallen op / gijzeling van onderwijsorganisaties door hackers.
* There will be millions of implementations of robots-as-a-service over the next five years, which could generate billions of dollars of revenue. <- denk na over de rol van onderwijsrobots en robotics.
